Imagine this: you’ve just landed in a new city, heart brimming with excitement. You drag your luggage towards the entrance of your chosen hotel, ready to embark on an adventure. But a looming, imposing doorway throws a bucket of cold water on your enthusiasm. Heavy, opaque doors might keep the elements out, but they also create a barrier, making you feel unwelcome before you even step inside.

This is the power of first impressions. In the tourism industry, where creating a positive guest experience is paramount, even seemingly insignificant details like the entrance doors can play a significant role. This is where glass doors come to the rescue!

Transparency: A Psychological Invitation

The human brain is wired to be drawn to light and openness. Glass doors capitalize on this by offering a clear view of the interior, creating a sense of transparency and inviting tourists in. Think about it – a welcoming lobby filled with comfortable seating and friendly staff is much more appealing than a dark, unknown space.

Breaking Down Barriers

Glass doors act as a visual bridge between the outside world and the welcoming haven within. Tourists can assess the atmosphere of the establishment without feeling physically separated. This is especially important for first-time visitors who might be apprehensive about entering a new environment.

Security with a Smile

Of course, security is a top priority in any tourist setting. Here’s the good news: advancements in glass technology allow for robust and secure glass doors. Modern tempered glass is incredibly strong and can withstand significant force. Additionally, security film can be applied for added protection.

There’s also a misconception that glass doors are inherently cold and sterile. Not true! Modern designs can incorporate features like sleek metal frames, interesting textures, or even integrated lighting to create a warm and inviting aesthetic.

Beyond Hotels: Welcoming Tourists Everywhere

The allure of glass doors extends far beyond hotels. Tourist destinations like museums, airports, and information centers can all benefit from the welcoming ambiance they create. Imagine arriving at an airport with stunning views of the city through large glass walls, instantly getting you excited for your trip.

The Power of Design: Striking a Balance

While transparency is key, it’s important to achieve a balance. Frosted or etched glass can offer a touch of privacy in certain areas, like restrooms or offices. Additionally, strategically placed signage can guide tourists without obstructing the overall openness of the space.

As the age-old adage goes, “You never get a second chance to make a first impression.” Glass doors act as the gateway to a tourist establishment, shaping visitors’ initial perceptions and setting the tone for their entire journey. A meticulously designed entrance that exudes warmth, elegance, and accessibility can leave a lasting imprint on tourists, sparking their excitement and curiosity from the moment they arrive.

Imagine a grand museum with towering glass doors that showcase a glimpse of its priceless exhibits within. The sheer magnitude and beauty of the entrance alone can stir emotions of awe and wonder in tourists, preparing them for the cultural feast that awaits them inside. On the contrary, a lackluster entryway with dull, uninspired glass doors may fail to captivate visitors, leaving them underwhelmed and uninspired.

Design Tips for Welcoming Glass Doors

  • Size Matters: Consider the scale of your entrance. Grand hotels might benefit from expansive glass walls, while smaller establishments can create a warm welcome with strategically placed glass doors.
  • Embrace Natural Light: Maximize the use of natural light by incorporating large glass panels wherever possible. This will not only make the space feel more inviting but also reduce energy consumption.
  • Frame it Right: The frame plays a crucial role in setting the tone. Choose a material that complements the overall design – sleek metal for a modern vibe, or warm wood for a more traditional feel.
  • A Touch of Privacy: Not all areas require complete transparency. Frosted or etched glass can be used strategically in restrooms, offices, or areas where privacy might be desired.
  • Signage with a Purpose: Signage can be a great way to guide tourists without compromising the openness of the space. Opt for clear, concise signage that complements the overall design aesthetic.
  • Let There Be Light (Literally): Integrate lighting into the glass door frame or above the entrance to create a warm and inviting glow, especially for nighttime arrivals.

From the shore, Lake Gatun looks endless. On its surface you can see here and there small islands densely overgrown with trees. Traveling by boat you can admire the steep red cliffs, which were washed by the waves over the years and the trees overhanging directly over the water. White-winged herons and slow-moving pelicans are found here. Flocks of kites can often be seen in the sky.

Gatun Lake will please fans of fishing – tuna here jump out of the water by itself. You can try to catch a sergeant fish, so nicknamed in memory of the U.S. military. The lake attracts not only lovers of measured rest and ecotourists, but also divers. Panama has several possible dive sites in Lake Gatun and Alajuela. At the bottom of them you can see the remains of the railroad that ran all the way to the Isthmus of Panama, and a lot of construction equipment that was used to lay the tracks and build the Panama Canal.

Another interesting place is the partially restored old pier. From it, there is a path to a ruined military base that was used by the Americans during World War II for classified radio communications.

One of the most famous national parks in the world is located in Panama – Soberania. On an area of about three hundred square kilometers there is a unique protected area with almost no signs of human presence. This is generally recognized as the best place in the world for bird watching.

There is no room for ornithology lovers here. There are about a thousand species of birds on the territory of the reserve. Some are found only in Panama and are on the verge of extinction. Only here you can meet the Guiana harpy and the sun egret. For the convenience of bird watching, an old radar unit is used, from which you can see rare birds in their natural habitat through binoculars.

The partially cultivated rainforests are ideal for hiking. The local nature is very diverse, but especially striking are thickets of cottonwood trees, which sometimes exceed 60 meters in height. Hikers move around the park on their own, armed with a map and beacon. There are convenient campsites and fishing spots along some of the trails.
