PANAMA CITY, Fla. – You can take a trip through Panama City’s history now until March 16 at the Light Room in Downtown Panama City.
The Light Room is featuring an exhibit called ‘Launch! Wainwright Shipyard and the First Liberty Ships,’ which highlights the workings of Wainwright Shipyard during the WWII years and the 103 Liberty Ships built there for the Allied war effort.
Wainwright Shipyard was the center of Panama City’s economy in 1940’s and continues to be today, but is now known as Port Panama City.
You can see photographs of the first 24 ship launchings and learn about a very interesting slice of local history.
